Quaint, cozy cafe with a good menu of sandwiches, salads, flatbread pizza and pasta. The smallness of the space lends to the intimacy; the food was good and the waitstaff friendly and attentive. Don't leave without having dessert (or skip your meal and have dessert instead!). I recommend the chocolate fudge brownie or the cherry crepe. During the summer, there is occasionally live music on the patio -- wonderful!

EDIT: Many of the menu items have changed, food was just terrible this time around, I typically love everything we order.
Spicy Feta - no longer available, this was a fantastic dish that should be brought back!
Vegetarian Sandwich - Cilantro Ranch is no longer available as well as the wheat bread option.
Artichoke Dip - would not recommend, it's basically cream with whole artichoke leaves and frozen spinach served with very salty round Tostito chips.

May 2023: Best vegetarian sandwich with cilantro dressing & wheat baguette! Trio of dips is delicious, spicy feta is our favorite.

Our visit to Magpie's cafe during an evening stroll through the historic streets of St. Charles downtown was a delightful experience. Although the weather was too chilly to enjoy the large patio with fire pit heaters, the cozy interior more than made up for it. As we were entering , another couple leaving mentioned the cafe's excellent desserts.
We opted for the vegetarian options and were impressed with the Spinach Artichoke dip, Vegetarian Pasta with creamy white sauce, and the flavorful Mediterranean Flatbread. The small size of the cafe added to its charm, and the server and staff were friendly and attentive. By the time we were done , we were too full to indulge in desserts. This just gives us another reason to return! Overall, a great dining experience, and we look forward to visiting again.

Wonderful and quaint outdoor dining experience under umbrellas and trees. Live music which was perfect. The artichoke chicken was good and we loved the crusty bread. The bruschetta was out of this world. Best part was that even in the evening, there were no mosquitoes. The owner goes to great lengths to please. Really can't say enough about this gem.

Our service was amazing. Felt great on a cool, crisp day to sit on the beautiful patio near the fire. The orange spice tea is excellent. The baked potato soup is the best. The BLT is loaded with bacon. The Brie cheese was so good. Everything was so authentic, great prices and such a beautiful location.
