Seen him after a car accident and he said I was fine, gave me a a brochure on quitting smoking told me I was over weight and sent me on my way. I said I don’t need to come back and he said no! Terrible bedside manner . I went to another orthopedic doctor who sent me for an MRI and I had surgery. Then my husband was referred to him and I tried to warn him about my experience with this man and he didn’t listen needless to say he told my husband he was fine no tears. I was with him and heard the whole conversation. Went to get the results and he does have a tear and so happy to hear that my husband will be seen by my orthopedic surgeon. People get a second opinion and go to a doctor that specializes in certain areas of the body and not the body as a whole.

My husband had a horrible experience with him today. He tore his shoulder during our move a few months ago, and just recently had the time to get an MRI and appointment. The MRI showed a tear, but he acted like it wasn’t a big deal. My husband does NOT complain. He had a heart attack, and waited for days to go get checked. He tried to tell him the pain was worse the last 2 weeks, and that it is keeping him from sleeping and working right now. He didn’t seem concerned at all.

I hurt my shoulder in a fall. I waited for awhile thinking it would get better but when it didn't I had a MRI done. That test showed a couple of small tears and bursitis along with a little arthritis. When I went to him for treatment I was in room for over 30 minutes waiting. When finally came in he sat down and looked at test for a matter of seconds. He then told me I had one very minimal tear, very minimal arthritis, and bursitis. Noticed my range of motion was bad and then just said getting a cortisone shot. That shot did not help me! That was several months ago and still hurting like crazy! I did complain to his nurse about my pain. I never want to go back to him again! Just like it was mentioned on here, he acts like a tear is no big deal and everything good. I bet if he had my pain he would be all over getting help to stop it.

Dr. Gelvin in did my rotator cuff surgery which turned into a little more than expected but everything went great. He explained everything to my husband and I before and at my office visit. Extremely knowledgeable and patient

What a miserable experience today! After the curt reception, x rays were done on my knee. Then I sat, waiting. Finally Dr. Gelven whisked in, felt around on my knee, didn't listen to the fact this has been hurting for years and said I needed a cortisone shot. I asked shouldn't we find out what the issue is rather than mask the pain as I felt I could injury it worse if there a tear, etc?. He disagreed and said he'd get them ready. I ended up walking out after an assistant was sent in. I wish I would have checked his reviews first! Not flattering for sure!
