This is absolutely the most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with in 37 years of booking revenues and scheduling events. Planning something as special as your only daughter’s wedding, and your first child’s wedding should be memorable. The owner, definitely made our daughter’s wedding memorable, but for all the wrong reasons. The communication was horrible from the beginning. She does not return calls, nor respond to email. Be sure you get every little detail in writing and signed, because what she will tell you in person, will not hold true when you are there for the event. You spend a lot of money on these events, everything should be perfect, and I can guarantee you it will NOT be.
To begin with, the owner does have two lovely ladies that work extremely hard at the venue. However, she doesn’t communicate with them either! We were allowed to decorate the chapel and get everything set up the morning of the wedding. The workers were there watching us and answered some of our questions. After leaving to go get dressed for photos and the wedding, I was called to return to the venue. Upon arriving, I was told by the workers that everything had to come down for an event that was going to take place in the same area before our wedding. When I asked the workers why they stood there and allowed us to decorate and get everything ready, their response was that they were just informed of the event by the owner. So, everything we had done had to be taken down and put in a closet, only to be allowed to get it all back out and set up a couple of hours before the wedding. One of the workers, on her own called the owner, so that she could explain to me why we were not told this ahead of time. Only seconds into the conversation, the owner began yelling at the top of her voice at me, and did not listen to one question I had, nor NEVER apologized for the inconvenience we were facing only a couple of hours before guests were arriving. NOT ONLY THAT, but she sent an email to my daughter just a couple of hours before her wedding, reaming her out about the conversation she and I had on the phone. The conversation that I had not shared with my daughter so that she wouldn’t be stressed or upset on her wedding day! Then, immediately following the wedding ceremony, we were collecting our personal items, and bustling my daughter’s wedding dress so she could walk across the street. A total stranger was allowed to enter our event to tell us that we had to get out immediately because they had the area reserved right now! She entered our event twice and interrupted us in front of family and guests. We were hurried out, and had to go into a small restroom to prepare my daughters dress for walking.
Then, that evening at the reception, I saw the owner and informed her that my husband and I would like to visit with her before the night was over. I was interrupted by her yelling at me, and telling me to “just enjoy the night”, that I never even got to finish my sentence. She also NEVER met with us and NEVER returned calls. Her own workers overheard the conversation and stated, “you never raised your voice, and stayed calm”, Sheri, the owner, yelled at us in front of our guest during the rehearsal, that was overheard by many!
The owner has no sense of professionalism at all! We paid a lot of money to use the facility, and it was nothing but stress! She is rude and does not honor the contract, the schedule, or her word! Once she gets your money, she no longer cares about anything but getting you out of there. My best advice if you are really wanting your day to be special and a great memory, is to look elsewhere. You’ll be glad you did!
In response to Sheri’s comment, she recalls the details so vividly because those were her actions! I am happy to provide more testimony from family members, wedding guests, and wedding party members, including her own employees that stated “we hear stories like this all the time”. If you really want to get into this, I am more than happy to provide names and contact information.

The place was beautiful. My problem was the food, which was horrible. They put sugar in the string beans which was unacceptable. You never do something like that due to those that have health issues. I called the owner to talked with her about this and she was extremely rude and ignorant. For the amount of money that was paid the food should have been worth it as well. She needs to learn how to be professional and talk with people. Because of her rude behavior when calling her with my concern I wouldn't host anything here again. I'll take my business else where.

Searching for a beautiful and affordable reception venue was on top of my list as a bride planning my wedding. After touring the Heart of St. Charles and meeting with a planner my husband and I signed a contract that day! We were super impressed with this venue. Our planner, Karen, was very involved with our planning process and was VERY patient with me as a bride. Originally there was an event the morning our or wedding which concerned me however Karen called me a few weeks prior stating there was no longer an event in that room. It was great that she knew I was concerned and helped make me feel better about this. She allowed us to view the room all set the day prior since I'm a control freak and wanted to make sure everything was in place.
I have a gluten allergy which the Heart of St. Charles was very accommodating! If you have a food allergy I'm sure you know how nerve-wrecking it is to eat somewhere new. I was not worried at all that I would get sick! I was even allowed to bring my own hard ciders to drink and the bartender kept them for me behind the bar!
I HIGHLY recommend the Heart of St. Charles for a reception venue. It was great to have the catering, service, set up, planner, and the venue all in one. My wedding day went so smoothly because of the service we received.

Karen was our contact and she did an amazing job with the room. She accommodated our needs and desires perfectly. My daughter's wedding reception was fabulous. One note, they do not accept credit cards. I understand why, but some may not like it.

Everyone please read this!! My sons wedding and reception was supposed to be here Oct.2nd. However they called my son and daughter in law to say they overbooked. They could change the day or get refund. This call occurred 4 days before the wedding!!! Invites were out, cake and flowers ready!! It’s their wedding day and heart events ruined it!!! Awful business. I hope they close down before anyone else gets hurt. It’s disgusting business!!! Do not book this venue!!!!
