I haven't seen all of it, but this park is fantastic. I came here early on a Sunday morning to check it out see there's any good spots for photography. This park definitely has some good spots for photography. The little visitor center wasn't open, so I don't know what that was like. Don't remember if there's anything good for kids to play on but I'm pretty sure there is. The one path I took to the lookout view was amazing and I highly recommend it to everybody. You can get to this park from the Katy trail.
We absolutely love this park! Great inclines and rocky terrain in some areas. Beautiful views of the Missouri River. Lewis and Clark most likely stayed the night at the top when they were passing through. There is a marker with information about the local Native American population that once lived in the area.
This place is a gem! For a county park it is fantastic. Whether you are hiking, picnicking, or camping there is a facility for you. There are camping cabins that would be great for a multifamily retreat. My grandkids especially loved playing in the pretty white sand "beach" around the small lake (no swimming). We saw bald eagles along the river. Geologists will appreciate the cliffs of dolomite and beautiful St Peter sandstone.
They consider truck campers as RV’s, only tents on the ground allowed. Booking all online. Looks awesome if we could have stayed. Went to Defiance which had an RV park next to a (good) pizza/brewery.
Great park for a casual hike. It does get a bit busy on the holidays and weekends. If you can sneak away on an evening during the week it is much more enjoyable. Great place to go for a day hike and hit a local winery. Their are lots of options within as 10 minute drive.
