This place was amazing. Everything was outstanding from the Margarita to the Cesar salad, and the pan seared scallops and the strip steak. So tasty and well prepared. Service was great as well and really attentive and we couldn’t have had a better time. A lovely spot outside to enjoy dinner or drinks. I’d love to go back and try everything else on the menu. Don’t miss it! Cheers!
Apparently you have to be friends with the manager to get service. We were seated and waiting for a waitress. 5 minutes later a group was seated next to us. The manager came over and talked with them and took a cheese plate order. They asked the hostess if she could take their order. She told them no but she would send someone out. The waitress came out and took their order. We left and went to Magpies. Great service and really good food at much better prices and live music.
Honestly, we were hoping for better. Our waitress, Carla, was quite nice. Four of us ordered the Wagyu Burger, Medium. All four of them came out very Well Done and very dry. And the fries were absolutely cold when the food arrived. To top it off, as the waitress was placing my food on the table, the ketchup in a container slid off the plate and landed all over my husband’s clothing. He was thoroughly soaked. It also splattered all over one side of me, but I was only damp. I have no idea how a small container of homemade ketchup could cause that much damage, but it did. The waitress offered my husband a wet towel to clean himself off. She also offered another wet towel to clean up the mess all over his chair and the table, which I took care of. There were no apologies - nothing. I was not even offered another container of ketchup. I tried to get the waitresses attention several times without making a scene, but she never noticed me or heard me say “excuse me…”. We had tasted a wine that Carla recommended, and we decided to purchase a bottle of it. Unfortunately the bottle of wine was terrible. It was cloudy with lots of sediment and tasted musty. Carla said she would talk to her manager about it, and we ordered a different bottle of wine. To say we were disappointed, is an understatement. Just before we were leaving, I went to the ladies’ room and Carla asked me “Was everything good?” I told her it was not and gave just three examples of the dry meat, cold fries and the terrible bottle of wine. She asked if we had paid for the wine, which of course we did, since it was not taken off of the bill. She walked away saying she would talk to the manager. The manager decided to take $45 off of our $250 bill and give us a $25 gift card to come back. No mention of the mess all over my husband at all. Again, no apologies, no offer of dry cleaning for my husband’s sport coat or clothing. The sport coat will have to go to the cleaners, and after three attempts, I have gotten all of the stain out of two of the other three pieces of clothing. The shirt will have to go in the trash. Needless to say, we will NOT be going back.
This place was absolutely amazing! Their food was delicious and served hot. The staff if very friendly and committed to providing excellent service. We used the private event space for a baby shower which turned out beautifully! I would highly recommend Tompkins for personal dining or your private event needs!
Waitress was awesome. Chocolate dessert was great. All food locally sourced!!! Great drink menu including lots of bourbons!!! Food was just OK. Wife's steak dish was cold. Long wait between courses(35+ min after finished with soup) Outside seating was uncomfortable. Overhead lighting not on for some reason, so very very dark. I'd only return for dessert.
