Have been to other TAUC sites, but this was my first visit to the office on 600 mid Rivers Mall Drive. I signed up for a timeslot and was seen quickly. Everyone there was quite friendly, Including Jackie, the nurse assistant, who was friendly & efficient. X-rays were efficiently done by technician, Shane,. PA Loren did a brisk but thorough exam. Following this, I got a prescription & knee brace, all in a little over an hour.
Nice experience. Came in as walk in for gout pain. Appointment was scheduled for 1 hour and 15 minutes later. While at home filled out paperwork online. Returned as scheduled and waited 10 minutes. After questioning and review from nurse doctor quickly arrived and assessed. Within 5 minutes was given steroid shot and prescription. Staff was extremely nice with personal bedside manner.
TAUC was available when my doctor was not. Making an appointment online was fast and convenient. I was updated with a small delay. The tests were thorough and comprehensive. The doctor was able to identify my condition and prescribed a medication that is working for me.
Normally I wouldn't leave a one star, but they're dropping the ball. They made me waste four hours before telling me after I showed up for the appointment that they didn't take my insurance. I offered them the insurance information at the time, uploaded it on their "save some time!" website maybe a half hour after I originally showed up around...9? Because 12:30 was the earliest "walk-in" available. And then it got pushed to 1, 1:30, 1:47 (weirdly specific but okay.) Bad math, FIVE hours. By then every place that DID take my insurance was booked, and now I have to wait two days because no one bothered to actually run my cards through their systems. I just got verbal confirmation, and then, "Oops! We were wrong." Then they tried to tell me I could pay around $100-150 to start with, but if it was anything worse than a cough the next jump was around or over $200. I'm sick, the healthcare system is messed up, and I don't have the money to pay my insurance premium let alone these outrageous "uninsured" prices. If your response is "you should know if TAUC is covered by your insurance," uh, no, TAUC should know if they take my insurance before saying that they do. If your response is "we're short staffed," then why don't you close down a few locations again and have your employees go to the other TAUC's so they can properly do their jobs? I woke up puking with Beelzebub trapped in my lungs before 7 AM, and I have every right to feel furious you wasted my time. I will say, the girl at the front was really polite. Update: I'd set an appointment in case they couldn't see me that day for the following morning. (This would have been a great time to tell me "we don't take your insurance" too.) We talked about cancelling the appointment, because it was (obviously) no longer needed. It did not get cancelled, but thank the lord I slept through every text you guys sent this morning. What a mess.
I did not love being questioned for hours by all the staff when my youngest broke his toe but I know they were just doing their job... i guess (do people purposely break their kids toes??). I'm honestly impressed with how calm and patient the staff stays dealing with crabby sick people all day. This is my favorite urgent care! They definitely do their best to get us in a room in a timely manner but there is a chance the wait will be really long depending on the severity of other people's illnesses and how many people are sick.
